South Edmonton Common—Canada’s largest retail power centre—has launched its new website with a modern, colour-rich design and easy navigation tailored to simplify the shopping experience.
The top minds at South Edmonton Common wanted everything the retail powerhouse has to offer readily available at anyone’s fingertips. Through close collaboration with Top Draw, the project focused on improving site architecture, map integration (with pins and featured logos) and a Special Promotions section for events and more.
Top Draw immediately hit the drawing board to start generating solutions that would satisfy each specific goal. The result: A multi-option search system with four custom tailored navigation categories and an online directory that makes the South Edmonton Common experience deceivingly simple—the magic is behind the scenes.

South Edmonton Common customers will love finding their favourite places with ease—spending more time in their destination than on the journey getting there. Using custom-built options by the Top Draw team, visitors can
- Type in the business name, in the custom search engine.
- Search by category from the filter drop-down menu.
- Search by letter via alphabetized list of business names.
Or, customers can also scroll down and search by business logo (no need for the name) or click the business link directly — easy peasy!
Four navigation categories were designed specific to all the reasons visitors are attracted to South Edmonton Common — Eat, Live, Play, and Fashion — adding to the navigation simplicity goal set by SEC’s developers.
To further enhance the relationship between SEC and its customers and tenants, each category contains another directory and integrated pin map with embedded links directing visitors to individual business pages that offers
- hours of operation
- contact information
- image of the store
- link to each business’s own website
South Edmonton Common’s website operates as a medium directly connecting tenant shops with the shoppers that seek them.
South Edmonton Common’s team knew that the site needed to be mobile responsive so customers can experience true directory greatness from any device. Plus, the mobile-responsive design caters to Google’s new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm that rewards mobile-friendly sites (with better ranking in mobile-specific search).
Together, the developers of SEC and Top Draw were able to turn several tools into one tidy and friendly website that will delight customers, tenants and anyone seeking a new online experience with the shops at South Edmonton Common.
